Boyne Valley tour

In conjuction with Intercomm , to whom we must express genuine thanks ,
our group visited  the Boyne Valley for a historical research tour , we
explored the Boyne Valley and a guided tour of the musuem.

This was followed by a visit to the museum of Francis Ledwidge , the poet of the
blackbird , who although a dedicated Irish Republican volunteered to the
British Army at the outset of the war and was killed at Ypres , we then
went on to Slane Hill an ancient site before going to the Hill of Tara ,
dwelling place of the gods and entrance place to the otherworld , where
the Lia Fail or Stone of Destiny originated , this is now sited in
Westminster Abbey .

After that we visited the tomb at Newgrange , older than the pyramids .
Bru na Boinne and passing through Droghada we stopped off at the Millmount Musuem.

We met with Eugene Keane, Head of National Historic Buildings Division of the Office
of Public Works, Republic of Ireland. In the past he accompanied the Queen and Prince
Phillip on their visit to the Rock of Cashel and the Secretary of State
for Northern Ireland Theresa Villiers on her recent visit to the Boyne
Site.
